In 2010, Australia
will be celebrating the 200th anniversary of the swearing in of Lachlan
Macquarie as Governor of New South Wales on 1 January 1810. Governor Macquarie
had a profound influence on the development and landscape on many of the areas
of Sydney in 1810 and later the Bathurst Region in 1815.
The Macquarie 2010
bicentenary is a significant national and state event. Bathurst Regional
Council will be participating in the 2010 celebrations to help commemorate the
achievements of Governor Macquarie and also to initiate interest and create
awareness of the celebrations the Bathurst Region will be staging in
2015.
Are you staging any Macquarie 2010 celebration events or would be
interested in staging celebratory events and activities or even naming one of
your planned events in Macquarie’s honour.
