Bathurst Region Eats & Drinks

Bre&d is a community based non-profit organization, which was established in September 2001 when about 30 interested people came together. These founding members included local chefs, hospitality workers, growers and producers, and those with a passion for good food and wine. With a vision of increasing consumer awareness of local produce and what the Bathurst Region has to offer, Bre&d is passionate about putting the Bathurst region on the map as a culinary destination. It is no small coincidence that locals now expect (and receive) more from their local restaurants since Bre&d set about “raising the bar” and emphasizing the benefits of using fresh, regional produce in exciting ways. Bre&d aims to promote local produce and hospitality services to both visitors and residents encouraging them to experience the unique eats and drinks of the Bathurst Region, resulting in stimulation of the local economy, including the establishment of new businesses. Bre&d has an active membership of approximately 30 core volunteers, 36 business houses and 150 general members. However these numbers are always growing and each year interest in the organisation continues to grow. Bre&d’s past events - Bre&d on the Bridge 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 & 2006 - Bre&d at the Courthouse - Bre&d on the Train - Bathurst Regional Farmers’ Market (the fourth Saturday of every month) - Bre&d Awards, 2005. Bre&d builds all its events on collaboration and they would not be possible without the involvement and support of the wider community and local businesses. Bre&d showcases the strengths and creativity that exists in Bathurst and aims to raise the regions profile as a culinary and cultural destination.
